Blow Me Away Black Friday

Exciting news- this post includes our first baby video!

But first, some Black Friday photo fun...

Jude had some morning fun with Uncle Joel and Aunt Jamie....

He also got to hear Dad practicing on the piano...

He is clearly amazed by his piano man....

All that piano playing led to nap numero uno... He loves his swing. (And so do we!)

He woke up in time to hang out with Aunt Jamie a little more...

Jude enjoyed nap numero dos during his diaper change.

He woke up by the time we changed his outfit though...

Doesn't he look like such a little boy here? I love making him look like a little man. What a rock star!

Unfortunately for Aunt Megs, he must have partied like a rock star with that breast milk because it ended up all over her shirt.

Nap number 3 with Aunt Megs. This time she's prepared with her handy dandy burp cloth. How cute does Jude look sleeping on his little first...

We moved the nap party to the swing.

Jude loves his Uncle Joel! Joel got Jude's first chuckle. He thinks its sooo funny when Uncle Joel blows on his hair.

More fun with blowing Jude's hair. Big smiles all around...

Jude would let Joel do this forever. The wind fun even managed to distract Jude from his hunger. Not many things have that kind of power! Who needs a pacifier when Joel's around to blow your hair?

More tug of war with Sadie and Jack. Best cousins!

And now the best part of this post, a video of Joel and Jude's windy frenzy

Jude's 1st Thanksgiving- Highlights

Some highlights from Thanksgiving Day with my parents:

Jude is fascinated by his Uncle Joel. This was the first time Joel was able to see Jude. He's been in Annapolis at school since June. This is the first time he's had leave to come home. Jude thinks Joel is awesome because Joel blew on his hair.

My dad insisted Michael sit on this chair in this exact spot in the living room in order to best appreciate the speakers and the old record he was playing. It's nice they both can share this love of old 70s music and vinyl together every holiday.

Jude began practicing taking a bottle since I go back to work December 14th. Megan, his amazing aunt, got to give him his first one. He took it like a champ. Even fell asleep in the middle of it at least 10 times just like he does for his mommy.

Then Aunt Megan took Jude to his favorite chair to rock away.

He wuvs her and he wuvs rocking!

It put him right to sleep....

Then sleeping Jude met Blake who spent Thanksgiving with our family.

Sadie met her new cousin, Jack. Finally, there is a dog inside that likes to play as much as Sadie. He even likes to play her favorite game, tug of war.

Jude with Mr. Blake.

Jude sleeping on Aunt Jamie.

Jude sleeping with Pops. Do you notice a pattern here?

Happy Thanksgiving from our family to yours!
In order from the left--
* My mom and dad with their two labs, Toby and Maggie.
* Joel and Jamie with their new puppy, Jack.
* Michael, Jude, and I with our puppy, Sadie.
* Megan and Blake with Kyah.

Happy Thanksgiving 2009

Thankful for my mommy!

So my Thanksgiving rant proved worthwhile- My mom felt bad for me I guess and went on a Thanksgiving outfit hunt. She got lucky and found this cute little onesie! I love the little turkey pilgrim! Plus, it says Thankful for mommy. That's right, I'm the cool parent. Actually more like the goofy parent obsessed with holiday wear.

Rubber Ducky, You're the One

You make bath time so much fun!

Scratch that- More like soccer ball in Jude's case...

During this last week, bath time has begun to get more relaxing for Jude. Prior to this, it had every appearance of a baby torture device. I think now that he is discovering his hands and feet, the world of water possibilities is opening up. He hasn't worked up to full on splashes mind you. He's just relaxed.

His favorite bath toy? His baby soccer ball. Do you think this makes Dad happy? You bet! This dream has been around since the womb.....His eyes suggest definite possibilities!

My bath time dream? To make it through without Jude peeing. At least it's not pooping....yet...

Lullaby and Good Night

Rockabye Baby.....
Today I began to teach Jude something new: how to fall asleep drowsy as well as a specific nap time. (By specific time, I mean sometime between 12 and 1:30.) He's gotten so used to falling asleep with one of us holding him. I think we were just so entranced by having a baby, we haven't wanting to put him down. I confess, holding sleeping babies has always been one of my favorite things. Holding MY sleeping baby is even better! Anyway, today I started breaking us both of this habit.

I put on baby einstein lullabies and he starting fluttering his eyes. I laid him in his bed and he went to sleep for a few minutes. Then he started crying. I waited a couple minutes, but he just grew more intense, so I went and picked him up. I consoled him, gave him his pacifier and lovie, and calmed him down. I placed him back in the bed and he's been out since then. I call that success!

Incidently, I don't know if I would be concerned about this stuff if I was a stay at home mom. However, I go back to work on December 14th. Poor Jude- there are just some skills I have to help him with so that he can transition. I doubt his babysitter will want to hold him all day quite like I do, so it's necessary that he be a wee bit more independent by then. Of course, I probably will hold him all evening when I pick him up from work! I don't care if it's teaching him bad habits. He's my baby and he's only my baby for a couple months of his life.

Anyway, I'm praying for a smooth transition for both Jude and me. Probably more for me. I have no idea how I'm going to leave my baby and work all day.

By the way, isn't sleeping Jude possibly the sweetest thing ever? I think so...

He shoots, he scores and Tummy Time

First off, I just have a charming anecdote for Jude's adoring fans. Yesterday evening, during one of Jude's many diaper changes, I experienced the familiar 'hosing down' which probably happens once a week. Little boys are more exciting than little girls in this way. You just never know when you are going to be surprised! Luckily for me, 90% of Jude's surprise showers occur when Michael is NOT home. Go figure. Yesterdays event was one of note however. Somehow Jude managed to shoot straight at his mouth for about 2 seconds. Never thought I would see the day my baby would cough on his on urine, but it happened. I've told myself baby urine isn't that dirty since its just milk leftovers. It makes me feel better....

On a more exciting note, Jude is finally starting to get in to tummy time. We were told by the doctor to let him have tummy time every day once his umbilical cord fell off, which was about at 2 weeks. Jude hates tummy time mainly because he hasn't grasped the concept of 'I can use my hands to play with toys' yet. Well today we started a new milestone. He actually grabbed at a rattle which you can see above. He still has a ways to go before he is really playing, but today we took that first baby step towards it. Very exciting! You can also see he's starting to be able to hold his head up for longer periods. It's amazing how much he learns literally every day!

Jude much prefers to play this way. He likes to look up at things and talk to mommy and daddy...

More 1 month pics

These are just some more pics of Jude now that he is 1 month old!

Notice, he is very excited about Thanksgiving. I'm loving the bib! Thankfully, my friend Rachel got this for Jude. I tried Monday to go to Babies R Us to get him a Thanksgiving shirt or outfit or something. Can you believe they had already put up the Thanksgiving things? They were only selling Christmas clothes. THANKSGIVING HASN'T EVEN HAPPENED YET!!!!

Don't get me wrong, I am just as excited about Christmas. Seriously though, do we really have to pass up Thanksgiving?! I just wanted a dang Thanksgiving outfit for my baby. DUMB!
